The Central Islip Board of Education and Administration maintain the highest standards to keep our students, faculty, staff and all who enter our schools safe and secure.

To that end, the Central Islip Union Free School District is implementing a proactive measure to further increase security and safety in our District. Metal detectors will be utilized on random days and at random times at the Central Islip High School and/or throughout other of our District’s buildings.

During the use of the metal detectors, all students and visitors will be required to enter the school through the walk-through metal detector. If the detector indicates that a student or visitor is carrying a metal device, the student or visitor and their belongings will be searched to ensure they are safe to enter our campus.

We are using every tool available in order to provide a safe and secure educational environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. The metal detector is a security measure which is designed to enhance the safety of our District and does not imply that our District is unsafe.
